My dad has just handed me down his 1985 g wagon 230 ge however it needs some work. Was wondering if anyone knew a good place to get a new back seat seatbelt for it? Thanks

Hello and welcome to G-Wagen ownership!

I'm no expert but have had some success finding odd parts for old cars on ebay. I would suggest starting there.

There are many more knowledgeable than me, though, and I am sure they will be along with some specific suggestions soon.

Good luck and hope you enjoy the G Wagen

Hi Sue

If you get stuck some trim pieces and parts for the  G460 models (1979-1991) are the same as those fitted to the saloons like the W123, W124 (E) and the W201 (190) and also the Mercedes vans from that period. Worth keeping a lookout if you are browsing ebay etc because there were a lot more cars and vans produced than G Wagons.

First and formost Sue - Welcome to the club,

You will soon find out with experience that parts for the older G-Wagens will tend to be a hit and miss affair. My suggestion to you is when ever enquiring on parts or seeking technical assistance do always furnish your full Chassis No. Without this key piece of information making enquiries on your behalf becomes difficult, the dearler parts technicians are working blind without that info.

On your model there were two styles of seat belts, one which anchored onto the floor and the other anchoring on the base of the seat frame itself. Secondly, are you after the whole set of seat belt or do you want just one part of it be it the anchor or the reclining belt?

I didn't know aboutthe seat belt differences.  Both my 203GEs (one gone now) had the floor attached belts which has the disadvantage of needing to be threaded through the rear seat every time you put the seats up and down!
